What Scranton private and parochial schools are up against
Scranton is an old anthracite and railroad city with an aging population, a large Catholic institutional presence, and a university that keeps a steady stream of younger people moving through. Budgets here have been tight for a long time, at the city level and inside almost every organization in it.
Scranton's Catholic and independent schools recruit from an area with an aging population and fewer school age children each year, while institutional reorganisation has moved and merged more than one school. Families genuinely do not always know which schools still exist, let alone what they cost.
Enrollment is decided by families who will never call to ask a question they could not find an answer to. The site is where most of that deciding happens.
A site that earns the minute it gets
Admissions season, answered
Tuition, aid, application deadlines and what a tour actually involves, in the place parents look first rather than buried in a PDF.
Written for a parent, not a board
Plain answers to the questions families actually ask, without the language schools use with each other.
Mobile first, genuinely
Because a parent comparing schools is doing it from a phone, usually at night, usually with a tab open on your competitor.
Editable by your office
News, calendar and closings updated by whoever is in the office that morning, without a developer.
I work with organizations across Pennsylvania and the rest of the country from a studio just outside Pittsburgh. Being reachable has never been the hard part, and that is the part I take most seriously.
Working with one person, from Pittsburgh
You are hiring one person, not an agency. I am Scott Rocca, I work out of Bridgeville just outside Pittsburgh, and I do the design, the build, the hosting and the support call myself. Nothing gets handed to a junior and nothing gets outsourced. That is the tradeoff: you will not get a 20 person team, and you will never be handed to someone who does not know your project.
Most builds run three to six weeks depending on how much content is ready. Sites are built to WCAG 2.1 Level AA at delivery and hosted on a private server I administer, not a page builder you rent by the month. You get a straightforward one time build price plus a flat monthly for hosting, updates and support, and I quote it before you commit to anything. If a cheaper option genuinely fits you better, I will say so.
If you are in Scranton and you want to talk it through, email scott@brightpresencedigital.com or call (412) 314-8850. I reply within two business days.
